Work is about surface and texture, the passage of time and water across the seen environment. It is about landscape and unseen human interaction. I am intrigued by the passage of time across the surface of things.

Photography is predominately colour and digital, printed to archive standards.  Painterly images seize the pictorial flat from the three dimensional world.  Boats populate many of these photographs - especially from the dark harbours of Arctic Norway and Iceland where low light and snow carpet offer subtle lighting and unexpected vibrancy of colour.

I work instinctively.  These are images created within the camera and presented without retouching.  However, I am now exploring the digital potential - particularly the deliberate ‘layering’ of landscape and architectural images to sandwich time and movement in a single print – the movement of water, leaves, people...

A return to film, increasingly black and white, is happening - a personal goal is to work with sheet film and large scale print.

It is slowly dawning on me that I am drawn to the darker side of materials.
